Our Parts
We are sure you heard the terms
- OE (Original Equipment)
- OEM quality parts (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
- OES quality parts (Original Equipment supplier)
- Aftermarket parts
Let us explain –
OE (Original Equipment): The original equipment is your car
OEM Parts (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) refers to the car manufacturer, for example: BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen etc. The car manufacturer (OEM) makes the body, frame and sometimes the engine block and cylinder head. The OES (Original Equipment Supplier) supplies all the other parts in your vehicle.
OES (Original Equipment suppliers)
OES parts are made on the same assembly line as the “Genuine parts” except that the “genuine part” is branded with the car’s logo, and then gets wrapped and labelled in the agents packaging. This part has just become more expensive to you as the consumer.
What are Aftermarket parts?
Aftermarket parts are just that, parts made for the aftermarket. So this includes the parts sold by the car dealerships.
These parts are not made for the car manufacturers. Sometimes, OES companies like Bosch and Valeo manufacture these parts, and other times it’s by a completely different manufacturer like Meyle. The main difference is they are not made completely to the cars manufactures specifications. This is not always bad. One example is Bilstein. They are not an OEM/OES supplier, but they offer parts of matching quality also.
Beware of low quality spare parts
Sometimes you will see spare parts costing only a fraction of OEM/OES parts. Beware of low quality spare parts. These spare parts are manufactured using inferior tools and materials. They are not built to your car’s specifications. This can lead to mechanical problems and breakdowns. Worse yet, they can cause damage and major safety concerns.

Handbook
As a Moto And More we cater to all makes and models of vehicles. We have an exclusive service database where technicians draw information in order to carry out the correct service for your vehicle. This is only available from Moto And More. This service is in line with the Motor Vehicle Manufacturer’s handbook. Should your vehicle be due for its 900000km service, for example, we will quote and carry out the service prescribed for exactly that mileage. Your engine cannot run without proper lubrication. Since most vehicles in South Africa operate in severe conditions our technicians recommend that you adhere strictly to the service intervals as recommended by the vehicle manufacturers. The service intervals of late model cars have increased and some manufacturers recommend oil changes only every 30,000 km. This has only been possible by using the latest oil technology and the development of semi and fully-synthetic oils. It is therefore essential to use oils and other lubricants as specified by the manufacturer. All Moto And More outlets are servicing vehicles according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. Service parts like oils, transmission lubricants, oil filters, air filters, fuel filters, etc. are replaced when recommended by the manufacturer. The vehicles are serviced according to a servicing schedule that is available to you on request. Omitting service items recommended on the schedule will reduce the cost of a service but will increase maintenance costs in the long run and may lead to serious damage.
